Strategy

In coordination across agency teams, I helped conceive a comprehensive modular deck that allowed leaders to pick and choose only training topics that were priorities for their market. We then identified topics and proposed the idea to the client.

Execution

From there, I conducted detailed research, outlined, and drafted a 200+ slide deck with almost 20 sections that leaders could mix and match per their needs. This was all done under tight deadlines with no room for delay and incorporating ongoing industry and product updates, additions, adjustments based on feedback from different stakeholders, and other complications.

Strategy

I worked across departments to identify needs and pain points and ways computer assisted translation (CAT) and AI tools could solve them. From there, I researched to find the right solutions for our agency’s needs, proposed the solution, advocated for it and won buy-in from key stakeholders.

Execution

Once we had the green light, I facilitated the purchase and setup of the software tools along with onboarding and training. For the remainder of the implementation, I served as a consultant who helped formulate standard operating procedures, run tests, and troubleshoot technical and procedural issues.

Overall, the new tools reduced costs and increased capacity by an estimated 30% on large content translations—and will create even more efficiencies with annual refreshes of that content—while improving quality and consistency across translation projects.

Strategy

This was a giant strategic undertaking involving coordinating with multiple stakeholders and understanding the technical underpinnings of old and new platforms. I participated in multiple interdepartmental and cross-organizational working groups per week for the better part of a year for this project. It required creating a content architecture from scratch for a broad range of stakeholders, content, and user channels we had never worked with before in a sophisticated new content management system. It also involved solving for problems month in advance and navigating numerous last-minute, unforeseen technological and human roadblocks along the way.

Execution

The practical implementation required wearing multiple hats. I helped organize and migrate content into the new system, and I wrote a wide range of educational and promotional content to help prepare administrators and users alike for the platform rollout and to help them learn how to use it.

Strategy

I worked with the rest of our content team to design a strategic, methodical, and efficient approach to audit and assess a large volume of content. We identified strategic goals, devised a human-led, AI-assisted approach to improve audit objectivity and speed, and ways to deliver meaningful findings in an understandable format.

Execution

I helped prepare the AI tools for analysis and ran analyses using the tools. Using the initial findings, I manually verified and added my own strategic analysis to the AI findings. This was where the AI assistance ended, since it lacked the industry and client context we had developed over years. From there, I helped identify opportunities for elimination and consolidation and developed proposals to fill content gaps.

1. Pitch the content audit to the client and persuade them that we were the best positioned to implement it.
2. Develop a detailed methodology for the audit.
3. Develop AI processes and protocols and run AI analysis.
4. Add content performance metrics to the data for analysis.
5. Add manual human layer of analysis.

This project is still ongoing. While our proposals could save at least hundreds of thousands of dollars a year across the client’s organization while better supporting training and sales performance, actual results will depend on the client’s response to the findings.

The biggest impact is that I have seen the limits of what users with average technical expertise can achieve with AI tools. Based on this, I have since developed specific coding capabilities needed to conduct the AI part of this audit many times better and faster.

Top pain points heard from agents included technology frustrations, an overwhelming number of plan choices, and wanting more Medicare leads. The podcast episodes were designed to address these by sharing the client’s investment in new, best-in-class technology, a simplified portfolio of plans and sales framework, and best lead generation practices and resources.

Strategy

I ensured the feasibility of the project, pitched the content of the episodes to the client, and consulted our video production department to plan the execution of the projects. This project demanded particularly careful planning and foresight.

The highly regulated nature of the Medicare industry meant that words needed to be chosen carefully to remain compliant. That meant carefully crafting interview questions, coaching interviewees on how to frame their answers to produce usable audio, ensuring that the episodes went through legal review with minimal changes, and capturing enough usable audio to leave options open.

In addition, sales and technology platforms were scheduled to launch after the release of the episode. To keep the episodes relevant, we had to carefully navigate interviews to ensure that sound bites were applicable before and after platform launches. We also had to record multiple versions of intros, outros, and promotional spots within the episodes that we could swap out after platform launches.

Execution

Working with Video Production, I interviewed SMEs, wrote host scripts, edited interviews into flowing podcast episodes, helped make audio choices as we worked with the audio engineer, and reviewed and QAed the final deliverables.

1. Assess feasibility, outline episodes, and pitch content to client.
2. Preparation and logistics: find a host and SMEs, plan interviews, prep for recording, plan for legal roadbumps and platform launches.
3. Draft interview questions and interview SMEs.
4. Edit, condense, and reorganize raw interviews into a logical, flowing, and engaging dialogue. Draft host script.
5. Submit scripts through multiple rounds of review and revisions.
6. Record scripted host part.
7. Work with audio engineer to put it all together into the final podcast episodes.
8. QA and publish podcast episodes.

Over the course of two years, we produced six podcast episodes covering strategies for lead generation, cross selling, member retention, referrals, compliance, and using new sales technology tools and frameworks. These episodes were published on the client’s agent training website and new sales enablement platform.

Unfortunately, these episodes saw minimal engagement due to lack of promotion. We had recommended that these episodes be aggregated and distributed on podcast catchers, as this is where most people listen to audio; and that they be promoted more by email.

However, these episodes were published on only on the client’s CMS and saw little promotion. On the upside, we were able to use compare metrics from this project with other projects to show that content only sees engagement if it is sufficiently promoted.

In its most recent iterations, I helped find the guide’s place in a new content ecosystem and added guidance supporting launch and adoption of powerful new training and sales tools.

Execution

In the initial overhaul, I removed anything unnecessary from the playbook. From there, I rounded out coverage of the topic by adding some short, new sections to provide a complete lead generation system. I also added worksheets and drove to tools and resources to help agents take the next practical steps in their business growth. To keep users engaged, I took advantage of interactive features using the Flipsnack publication platform.

In subsequent annual revisions, I further distilled the playbook, added guidance on using new tools and resources, and shifted emphasis to selling to priority markets.

1. Lay the groundwork

Due to familiarity with the industry and client plus some additional research, I worked with my team to refine the new year’s messaging and a webinar outline to support it and pitch it to the client. As I expanded the outline and drafted the webinar deck, we checked in with the client and adjusted as needed.

2. Review, revise, rinse, repeat

I revised at every stage over weeks of reviews, including manager, design, internal, client, business partner, legal, and proofing. Familiarity with the industry and client helped minimize feedback.

3. Pivot, package, deliver

The health insurance landscape changes fast and I was ready for the last-minute updates and reworking due to carrier and competitor pivots. Then I performed final revisions, proofing, finalizing assets, QA, and delivery for the webinar deck to be recorded for simu-live presentation.
